The thought-free place we find in meditation is the center of our being. This center is the source of all energy. In Japan, it's called ki. The alignment of certain body movements with the ki is the basis of Karate. Such power is unleashed by someone who has mastered this martial art that a Karate black belt must register her hands with the police as lethal weapons. In China, this energy is called chi and is the center from which Chinese martial arts derive their power. In India, this energy is called Shakti and is worshiped in its many different forms as the power that creates the universe. In every culture this energy has been identified and acknowledge as being all powerful, all knowing and present in all things.
One of the ways to reach this core of energy within is through focusing on the breath. Focusing your attention on the breath is a common centering technique and will help you reach that thought-free state where you can experience that powerful energy inside. Give yourself ten minutes with this exercise. - Learning To Focus-
